CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore guard Madeline Raster earned Ivy League Co-Player of the Week honors, and freshman guard Katie Benzan earned Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.
Both Raster and Benzan were excellent in Harvard's Ivy League opening 70-65 win over Dartmouth on Saturday at Lavietes Pavilion. Raster notched a game-high 17 points and a career-best nine rebounds, adding two assists and two steals. She recorded 15 first half points to help Harvard keep pace with Dartmouth, then hit the biggest shot of the game, a running jumper with 16 seconds to play in regulation to put Harvard up 68-65.
Benzan recorded her seventh straight double-digit scoring effort, notching 12 points, including a team high eight second half points in the win over the Big Green. She added two assists and one steal, and set up Raster's game-winning shot with a good pass.
Harvard continues to build on its best start in school history (12-1), as the Crimson has recorded a 12-game winning streak overall, the longest since the 2006-07 season.
Harvard will play its final non-conference game of the season with a road contest this Wednesday (Jan. 11) at La Salle (8-6), with tip off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
