Benzan Earns Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week Honors

Freshman guard Katie Benzan had a standout week in wins against BU (22 points) and Fairfield (11 points).

Freshman guard Katie Benzan earned Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced this afternoon.

Benzan had a standout weekend running point for Harvard's offense. On Tuesday against BU, she became the 10th Harvard player in program history, and the first at BU's Case Gym to hit seven or more threes in a game, leading the Crimson with 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting from behind the arc in a 65-52 win. She added two assists and two rebounds in the game.

On Saturday against Fairfield, Benzan added 11 points, three assists, and four rebounds in Harvard’s 58-44 win over the Stags. She leads Harvard with an average of 12.8 points per game and is 53.6% (15-for-28) from behind the three-point line this season, a shooting percentage ranks 15th in the nation.

Harvard will hit the road for a Tuesday night contest at Sacred Heart (2-3), with opening tip scheduled for 7 p.m.
