CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Incoming Harvard women's basketball freshman Maria Guramare and the U16 French National team are set to compete in the European Championship U16 Games on Saturday, Aug. 6. No stranger to international competition, Guramare helped lead the U16 squad to the International Easter Tournament title earlier this year.
France joins Slovakia, Sweden, and Croatia in Group D of the European Championship U16 Games held in Udine, Italy. The four teams will compete in round-robin play from Aug. 6-9, with France's first contest coming against Croatia on Aug. 6.
Guramare was a three-year starter at Marcelin Berthelot and played three seasons for the French National Institute of Sport. She was selected to the South of France Regional team and competed on the French U15 team before earning a place with the U16 national team.
