Freshman Victoria Lippert was named the co- Ivy League Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office this morning. This is the fourth rookie of week selection and third in a row. The newcomer from San Diego, Calif., posted her third double-double of the season to lead the women’s basketball team to a 68-60 win over Yale and keep the Crimson in the Ivy League title race.
Lippert recorded her third collegiate double-double of the season leading Harvard with 16 points and 11 rebounds against Yale. Lippert also had three steals, two assists and a block in the win over the Bulldogs. Against Brown she had eight points, four rebounds and an assist.
She is second on the team in scoring with 13.0 points per game, but paces the Crimson in conference games with 14.2 ppg and a 51.2 percent shooting performance. Lippert also averages 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game against Ancient Eight opponents.
Harvard begins a three-game homestand Friday night to close out the 2010 Ivy League season. The Crimson faces Penn Friday night before a pivotal game against first-place Princeton Saturday.
