CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Harvard track and field team returns to action this weekend, competing in a pair of two-day meets. Members of the team will head to Clemson, S.C. for the Tiger Paw Invitational, while the others are set to compete at the Valentine Invitational at BU. Both meets will be contested on Feb. 14-15.
The Crimson will compete against 23 teams at the Tiger Paw Invitational, including Ivy League foe Penn. Both track and field events are slated for a 12:00 p.m. start time on Friday, Feb. 14, while the field events are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and track events start at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb 15.
No strangers to BU, the squad will compete at BU's Track and Tennis Center for the third time this season. Running events are set for an 11:00 a.m. start time on Friday, Feb. 14, while field events will take place starting at 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 15, there will be an earlier start time, with the running events at 9:00 a.m. and the field events at 10:30 a.m.
What to Know
- The women's team is ranked No. 1 in the region for the third straight week, while the men are ranked No. 2 in the region for the second week in a row.
- First-year Stephanie Ratcliffe placed first last Saturday, Feb. 8 at H-Y-P in the women's weight throw. Her throw of 18.92m (62'01.00") moves her into second in Harvard's all-time record books.
- The last time Harvard competed at Clemson, junior Jovahn Williamson broke his own school record in the men's 400m (47.29).
- Competing at the BU Track and Tennis Center on Feb. 1, senior Kieran Tuntivate broke the Harvard and Ivy League record in the men's 3000m. Tuntivate currently ranks fourth in the nation with his time of 7:49.15.
The Crimson will take a week off, before returning to action at the Ivy League Indoor Heps hosted by Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y., Feb. 29- March 1.
