Gabby Thomas placed second overall in the 200 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
EUGENE, Ore. – Junior sprinter Gabby Thomas placed second in the 200 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field, her best outdoor finish in her signature event at the national level.
Thomas, who held the lead nearly halfway through the race, was narrowly edged by USC's Anglerne Annelus despite a strong final kick. Thomas finished the race in 22.86 on a rain-soaked track. For her efforts, Thomas will earn USTFCCCA First Team All-America honors in the 200 meters for the third consecutive outdoor season. She joins Dora Gyorffy '01 (high jump) as the second student-athlete in program history to earn First Team All-America honors three times.
Sophomore Simi Fajemisin, competing in her first NCAA championship meet, indoors or outdoors, placed 22nd overall in the triple jump, reaching 41'1". Fajemisin is the first women's triple jumper in program history to earn USTFCCCA All-America (Honorable Mention) honors.
