DANBURY, Conn. – Autumne Franklin of the Harvard track and field team has been named ECAC Division I Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Franklin led the Crimson with triumphs in the 60 meter hurdles (8.72 seconds) and 300 meter dash (38.72 seconds) at the Boston University Season Opener Dec. 5. The Owings Mills, Maryland native broke the Harvard school-record in the 300m, and turned in the eighth-fastest result in program history in the 60m hurdles. The senior was the only student-athlete on the women's side to win two events.
The award is the first of the year for Franklin, who is a two-time outdoor All-American in the 400 meter hurdles and three-time indoor Ivy League champion in the 60m hurdles. Harvard track and field takes a break until Saturday, Jan. 8 when it competes at Cornell.
