JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the second consecutive day at the 2015 NCAA Track and Field East Prelim Meet, a pair of Crimson garnered spots in the NCAA Championship. Jade Miller and Autumne Franklin are headed to Eugene, Oregon with qualifying times in the 400 meter hurdles.
Miller and Franklin finished within .07 of each other in seventh and eighth, respectively, to both qualify for the NCAA Championship. Miller clocked in at 57.12, while Franklin was right behind at 57.19. In Miller's heat she was the third-place finisher to earn an automatic bid. Franklin advanced the Championships as the fastest qualifying time based on performance. Franklin is making her third straight appearance in Eugene, while Miller is making her second straight.
Harvard also had two other competitors in action Friday. Jarvis Harris posted a time of 14.10 in the men's 110 meter hurdles, while Paige Kouba completed the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 10:27.29.
The NCAA East Prelim wraps up Saturday. On the track, Sarah Gillespie will compete in the 1,500 meter quarterfinal at 6:30 p.m. Whitney Thornburg and Molly Renfer are slated to race in the women's 5,000 meter race at 8:05 p.m. with Tom Purnell racing in the men's event at 8:45. The final event of the day for Harvard will be the women's 4x400 meter relay at 9:25 p.m.
