The Crimson women are coming off their second straight Outdoor Ivy League Heptagonal title (The Ivy League).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – One week out from the NCAA East Preliminary Track and Field Meet, the NCAA has announced the qualifiers headed to Jacksonville, Florida for the three-day event hosted by the University of North Florida from May 28-30.
Jade Miller, Autumne Franklin and Jackie Modesett, who have excelled in the hurdle events all season, each earned a spot at the East Preliminary meet in the 400 meter hurdles. Miller's best time came at the ECAC Championships on May 17 when she posted a time of 56.87. Franklin's top mark this spring, 57.69, came at the Texas Relays. Franklin is competing in the NCAA East Prelim for the third straight season, while Miller is making her second appearance. Modesett is making her first individual appearance, qualifying with a time of 59.41 at Heps.
Miller and Franklin are also members of the Crimson's 4x400 meter relay team, along with Gabrielle Scott and Christi Scott. The foursome earned a spot at the regional competition with their 3:35.38 runner-up performance at Outdoor Heps.
In the men's hurdles, Jarvis Harris posted qualifying marks at the 110 and 400 meter distances. Harris won the Ivy League title in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 51.10, while his best mark at 110 meters was a personal-best 14.05 at the Florida Relays.
Nikki Okwelogu qualified in the shot put. An indoor All-American in the shot put, Okwelogu's Ivy record throw of 56-10 (17.32 meters) is among the top-10 in the nation and ranks third on the East qualifying list.
Fellow field event competitor Hannah Mayer qualified in the javelin with her 159-2 (48.52 meters) throw at the Florida Relays in early April. Okwelogu and Mayer are returning to Jacksonville for the second time in their careers.
On the men's side, Efe Uwaifo will be in action in the triple jump as his 50-2.5 leap (15.30 meters) in the triple jump at Heps qualified him for the East Prelims.
Senior Danielle Barbian returns to the East Prelim for the second consecutive year in the 100 meter dash after recording a time of 11.46 at the Texas Relays.
Molly Renfer and Sarah Gillespie are set to represent Harvard in the 1,500 meter race, qualifying with times of 4:19.79 and 4:21.04, respectively. Renfer's time came at the Penn Relays, while Gillespie recorded her qualifying time a week earlier at the Virginia Challenge. Paige Kouba qualified in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, posting a time of 10:15.81 at Heps.
