DANBURY, Conn. – Freshman sprinter Malcolm Johnson has been named the ECAC Division I Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office March 4.
Johnson's spectacular freshman season culminated in his victory last Sunday in the 60 meter dash finals of the 2015 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. For the Sylvania, Ohio, native, the Heps triumph was the third win this season in the event. His first win came at the Dartmouth Relays January 11, which earned him his first ECAC Rookie of the Week award.
The next weekend at the Beantown Challenge, Johnson won both the 60 meter and 200 meter races. His 6.75 time at the Beantown Challenge is the second-fastest time in school history. He also ranks second in the program's record books in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.62 that he ran at the Terrier Invite.
