Okwelogu Captures Ninth in Shot Put at Commonwealth Games

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – Coming off a strong showing at the World Junior Track & Field Championships, Harvard sophomore thrower Nikki Okwelogu finished ninth in the shot put at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland on July 30.

Okwelogu, competing for Team Nigeria, posted a top mark of 15.13 meters (49.64 feet), tying her longest throw from the World Junior Championships. She was a last minute addition to the event, as Team Nigeria asked her to compete in the event after winning their national championship in June.
