Autumne Franklin caps her sophomore campaign with a top-10 finish in the 400m hurdles (Tim O'Dowd).
EUGENE, Ore. – Five Harvard track and field athletes competed on day one of the NCAA Championships Wednesday at Hayward Field on the campus of Oregon.
Sophomore Autumne Franklin just missed qualifying for the finals with a time of 57.48 in the 400m hurdles, finishing 10th overall. Freshman Jade Miller was not far behind (57.91), placing fourth in her heat and 12th of 24 runners.
Junior Erika Veidis placed fifth in her heat, 16th overall in the 800m run, stopping the clock at 2:06.03.
Senior James Leakos also competed in the 10K.
After breaking the Harvard school record in the javelin at the NCAA East Preliminaries, senior Hannah Mayer missed on three attempts.
On Friday at 9:10 p.m., sophomore Tom Purnell will compete in the 5K run. Freshman Efe Uwaifo is scheduled to triple jump at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
