Harvard Athletics announced the hiring of Scott MacPherson as the Paul J. Finnegan Family Head Coach for Harvard Alpine Skiing on June 16, 2017.

“We are delighted to announce Scott MacPherson as the next head coach of alpine skiing,” said Bob Scalise, the John D. Nichols '53 Family Director of Athletics. “Scott brings a wealth of experience and proven ability in leading a Boston-based ski team, and we believe he will provide excellent leadership for our student-athletes as a most-capable teacher, coach and mentor.”

“I am thrilled to lead the Harvard skiing program,” said MacPherson. “It has been a privilege to work with our student-athletes the last two seasons and feel the incredible support from the Crimson administration and community. I can’t wait for the snow to fly in New England!”

With over 12 years of experience coaching at the collegiate level, MacPherson brings extensive experience and leadership to the Crimson. No stranger to Harvard, MacPherson served as the team’s coaching assistant for the last two seasons.

From 2007-2015, MacPherson headed the Boston College alpine skiing team, where he was nominated as the 2010 MacConnell Division Coach of the Year. MacPherson also led the transition from USCSA-level competition to a Division I member of EISA.

Prior to his time at BC, MacPherson worked at Tufts and Waterville Valley BBTS.

After graduating from Colby College in 2002, MacPherson began his coaching career at the Noble and Greenough School, producing five undefeated seasons and a New England championship.
