Harvard Nordic Skiing Welcomes the Class of 2020

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Chris City, The Paul J. Finnegan Family Head Coach for Harvard Skiing, welcomes four newcomers to the class of 2020, announced today. City will add Clara Cousins, Mackinley Fitzpatrick, William Rhatigan, and Tegan Thorley to the squad.

Clara Cousins | Lincoln, Mass. | Lincoln-Sudbury Regional 

A two-time Duel County League all-star (2013, 2014) … Received Boston Globe all-scholastic honors in 2014 … Placed sixth in the U20 division at US Nationals in the classic sprint … Had eight top-10 results at the Eastern Cup Circuit in the U20 division … Placed second at the Harry Eldridge 10k Classic (2015) … Placed second in the U20 A Final Classic Sprint at Black Mountain Eastern Cup (2015) … Captained the Lincoln-Sudbury ski team in 2014 … A national merit scholar … Part of the cum laude society … Received an AP Scholar award … In 2014, proposed, funded, and constructed a greenhouse on the Lincoln-Sudbury campus … Taught in the villages of Alaska on a gap year … Brother, Henry Cousins '17, is part of the Harvard wrestling team.

Mackinley Fitzpatrick | Minocqua, Wisc. | Lakeland Union 

The 2015 Nordic Ski Conference champion … A two-time Kortelopet champion (2015, 2016) … Part of the U18 USSA Relay National Championship team … A member of the USA U18 ski team at the Scandic Cup (2015) … Competed in the U18 USSA All-American 10k skate (2015) … The Wisconsin state champion in 2016 … A three-time Midwest Junior National Team member (2013, 2015-16) … Captained the ski team in the 2015-16 season … AP Scholar with honors … Eagle Scout ... Sister, DelaneWilliam Rhatigan7, runs cross-country and track at Yale.

William Rhatigan | Newton, Mass. | Newton South

Skied for the Cambridge Sports Union Nordic Program … All-American at the 2016 Junior National Championships Classic 10k … All-American at the Junior National Championships Skate 10k … Named the Massachusetts Skier of the Year in 2016 … Placed sixth at the U18 Individual Start 10k … Placed third in the U18 Skate Hillclimb Relay … Grandfather, WalTegan Thorleyran cross-country and track for Harvard.

Tegan Thorley | Londonderry, NH. | Stratton Mountain School

Named to the NENSA Devo team all four years of high school … Placed top 20 in age class at nationals all four years of high school … Received invitation to the Regional Elite Training group (2012-2016) … Participated in the USSA U16 National camp … Placed 15th in the 10k skate at Nationals in 2016.
