Harvard Skiing Welcomes Class of 2019

The class of 2019 features six incoming freshmen, including four alpine and two nordic skiers. (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Tim Mitchell and Chris City, The Paul J. Finnegan Family Head Coaches for Harvard Skiing, welcome six newcomers to the class of 2019, it was announced today. City will add Nina Armstrong, Hannah Hardenbergh, Lily Koffman, and Jacob Meyerson to the nordic squad, while Mitchell will add Dennis Bao and Molly Leavens to the alpine team.

Nina Armstrong | Lake Placid, N.Y. | Lake Placid

Competed on the nordic ski team for two years at Lake Placid High School …  Also ran varsity cross-country for five years and track for four years… Captained the NYSPHSAA team … 2015 NYS nordic champion … 2015 Biathlon Achievement Award … Participated in the USSA Junior National Nordic Ski Championships from 2012-15 … Attended the New England Nordic Ski Association Regional Elite Group Camp from 2012-14 … 2015 Lake Placid Youth Volunteer of the Year … Valedictorian … Enjoys hiking, running, reading, crocheting, knitting and mountain biking.

Dennis Bao | Edina, Minn. | Edina

Four-year letterwinner on Edina High School alpine ski team … Led Edina to 2015 Minnesota state title … Team MVP … Led Edina to four Lake Conference championships … Four-time USSA Rocky/Central Junior Championship team qualifier …… Howard Merriman Student-Athlete Scholarship Recipient.

Hannah Hardenbergh | Edwards, Colo. | Vail Mountain

Four-year member of the nordic ski team at Vail Mountain High School … Captain of Rocky Mountain Nordic … 2013-14 Gaynor Miller Leadership Award for Ski and Snowboard Club Vail … 2012 Vail Mountain School Student Athlete-Award … Finished second overall at the 2015 Junior Nationals Cross Country Skiing Skate Sprint and 5k .. Third-place at 2015 Junior Nationals Cross Country Skiing Classic … Father, Gordon, graduated from Harvard in 1984 … Enjoy rafting, camping, mountain biking and horse riding.

Lily Koffman | Orono, Maine | Orono

Competed on the nordic ski and track and field teams all four years and cross-country for three at Orono High School … Four-time all-star in both cross country and track and field … Two-time cross country state champion … Four-time outdoor track and field state champion … Penobscot Valley Conference Scholar Athlete Award … Maine Athletic Administrator's Association Scholar-Athlete … Father, David, graduated from Harvard in 1989 and competed on the football team for two years.

Molly Leavens | Park City, Utah | Park City

Graduated from Park City High School in 2014 … Competed on the alpine ski team for four years and track and field for three … Captained the North America Cups, Western Region FIS Elite Series and Intermountain Division ... World No. 1 ranking during the 2014 downhill season … 2012 Intermountain division team national giant-slalom champion … Intermountain Division Scholar of the Year … Enjoys cooking and artwork.

Jacob Meyerson | Concord, Mass. | Concord-Carlisle
