HANOVER, N.H.-  The Harvard softball team (15-14, 8-3 Ivy) took the series against Dartmouth (6-22, 3-8 Ivy) in its doubleheader today, April 13. Senior Katie Duncan picked up both wins on the day as the Crimson moves to 8-3 in Ivy League play and 15-14 on the season.

Game 1; W, 2-1
After a scoreless first inning, the Crimson collected the first tally of the game as Teagan Shaw hit a RBI double to left field to bring around Elizabeth Shively who reached base on a walk. After a shutdown bottom of the second performance by Katie Duncan, Harvard continued its scoring into the following inning. With two outs and a full count, Kaitlyn Schiffhauer sent one to the left field wall as she rounded the bases for a triple before a Meagan Lantz double to left field brought Schiffhauer in.

For the following three innings scoring ceased until Dartmouth attempted to rally back for the victory. With a leadoff triple from Micah Schroder, a Morgan Martinelli's grounder allowed Schroder to capture the only run for the Big Green before the Crimson sealed the 2-1 victory.

Game 2; W, 9-7
Harvard carried its momentum from the previous game into its opening offensive attack as Erin Lockhart launched the ball over the left field wall for grand slam, which brought in Trina Hoang, Kaitlyn Schiffhauer and Morgan Melito and gave the Crimson an early 4-0 lead.

Dartmouth answered back with a run in the bottom of the first and another three in the third. Harvard added two more runs at the top of the fourth to take back the lead when Rhianna Rich singled in the left center gap to bring in Teagan Shaw who reached base on a walk, which forced a Dartmouth pitching change. The following batter, Trina Hoang, then singled down the right field line as a speedy Rich crossed the plate. Dartmouth quickly countered with another two runs to tie the game back up at six, where it would remain for the next six innings.

In the top of the 11th inning, Rich worked the count in her favor for the walk as Hoang followed with a bunt for a hit before Rich capitalized on a throwing error to advance just 60 feet from home plate. Schiffhauer tabbed the go-ahead RBI double to center when Rich came in. Melito then collected a sacrifice fly to bring in Hoang for the insurance run. The small rally continued with an Erin Lockhart RBI triple to the right center gap for a three run lead, forcing a late pitching change before heading into the bottom of the 11th.

Despite a leadoff home run from Schroder, Katie Duncan delivered noteworthy pitches to force a ground out back to her, a looking strikeout and another grounder to Lantz to capture the series win.
