Academic All-America awards are nominated and voted upon, exclusively, by members of CoSIDA and athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.30 or higher to be nominated. Duncan and Rich were two of 11 players recognized in District I, comprised of New England softball programs. Harvard was the only Ivy League institution to land players on the All-District team.
Duncan collected her first Academic All-District honors a day after claiming Ivy League Pitcher of the Year honors and a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection yesterday afternoon. The junior left-hander registered a career year in the circle, posting a 14-9 mark with a 2.66 ERA and 78 strikeouts.
Also a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection, Rich earned Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive year. Experiencing a career year in the Crimson middle infield, Rich found herself amongst Division I's top-10 in batting average, runs scored, triples, and triples per game. Additionally the nation's 26th toughest player to strikeout, concluded the regular season with an 11-game hitting streak.
Harvard returns to the diamond this weekend on the road against Dartmouth for the right to go to the NCAA Regionals beginning on May 17.
