CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After being recognized as a Top-10 academic team in NCAA Division I softball for the third consecutive year, Harvard softball announces its 2018 spring schedule.
The Crimson opens the 2018 campaign with five games over a three-day span at the Citrus Classic in Orlando, Fla. on Feb. 23-25. While down in the Sunshine State, Harvard's schedule consists of two ACC teams (Duke and Louisville), one Big Ten squad (Purdue), and one SEC program (Kentucky).
Harvard heads back on the road the following weekend to the Tar Heel State for the North Carolina Invitational on Mar. 2-4. Playing four games in three days, the Crimson opens the tournament with two games against Elon University and, host, North Carolina on Mar. 2. First pitch at 2:30 p.m.
Before kicking off its northeast schedule, Harvard makes one last excursion, spending five days in southern California beginning with the Loyola Marymount Invitational on Mar. 9. The Crimson plays five games in three days, including against host, Loyola Marymount and regional foe Providence on Mar. 10. After the invitational, Harvard will remain in California for an additional two days, playing Colgate and UC Riverside on Mar. 13.
Harvard returns to the northeast and commences Ivy League play with two, three-game series on the road against Yale on Mar. 17-18 and Cornell on Mar. 24-25. The Crimson opens its home schedule at the end of March for a three-game series against Ivy League foe Princeton on Mar. 31-Apr. 1. Sandwiched in between the Cornell series and Princeton series, Harvard travels to Worcester, Mass. for a single-game against Holy Cross on Mar. 29.
April is a busy month for the Crimson. Harvard plays 17 games during the fourth month of the year, including its second game of the season against Providence on Apr. 12. The Crimson will recognize its five seniors before the final home of the regular season against Dartmouth on Apr. 22.
Harvard concludes the regular season with a four-game road trip beginning in Chestnut Hill, Mass. with a single game against its fourth ACC team, Boston College, on Apr. 24 followed by three games at Brown on Apr. 28 and 29.
Posting a 22-19 recording, including a 13-7 mark in Ivy League action, Harvard returns all seven of its All-Ivy selections: Maddy Kaplan, Rhianna Rich, Kathleen Duncan, Elizabeth Shively, Olivia Giaquinto, Erin Lockhart, and Kaitlyn Schiffhauer.
