Sailing Returns to Action on Penultimate Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard sailing team will compete for the second-to-last time of the Fall 2019 campaign this weekend (Oct. 19-20) in a triad of regattas. Highlighting the weekend's events is the Co-Ed Showcase Finals in New London, Connecticut. The co-ed team will also compete on the Charles at the Oberg Trophy co-hosted by Northeastern and MIT, and rounding out the weekend slate is the Yale Women's in New Haven, Connecticut.

Co-Ed Showcase Finals; Yale Women's (New London/New Haven, Conn.) – Sailors in southern Connecticut will experience temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s over the weekend. Calm conditions are expected with wind speeds expected to range from five to nine knots.

Oberg Trophy (Boston, Mass.) – Sunshine and temperatures in the upper 50s are expected in Boston over the weekend. Sailors can expect a minimal chance of precipitation on Sunday with wind speeds capping at nine knots.

What to Know

  • The co-ed team is set compete in the Co-ed Showcase Finals after a second-place effort in the qualifier two weekends ago in St. Mary's, Maryland.
  • A year ago, the Crimson placed fourth at the Yale Women's, 10th at the Co-Ed Showcase Finals and 16th at the Oberg Trophy.
  • Harvard has placed in the top-three of at least one regatta in five of six weekends on the water this fall and for four consecutive weekends.

What's Next

The Crimson will complete the fall season next weekend (Oct. 26-27) with three regattas in Boston. Harvard will host the Victorian Urn, MIT will lead the Schell Trophy and Tufts will host the Nickerson Trophy.
