Sailing Claims Fifth at New England Team Race Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard sailing team posted its highest placement of the weekend with a fifth-place finish at the New England Team Race Championship, April 7-8. The Crimson also captured a ninth-place finish at the Wick Trophy and a 10th place mark at the Mystic Lake Team Race.

At the NE Team Race Championship hosted by Connecticut College, the Crimson tallied a 10-8 record over the course of the regatta. Harvard completed round one with a 7-4 mark after picking up wins over Brown, Boston University, Connecticut College, Coast Guard, MIT, Tufts and Yale. The second round proved to be a challenge as the Crimson tallied three wins against Boston College, Roger Williams and Bowdoin to secure its fifth-place overall finish.

The Crimson earned a ninth-place mark in the Emily Wick Trophy at Yale this weekend, totaling 163 points. In the A-Division, Taylor Gavula and Emily Wang posted a fifth-place finish that included two first-place marks. Lucy Wilmot and Alejandra Resendiz sailed in the B-Division, capturing a 10th-place finish and five top-10 placements.

Tufts hosted the Mystic Lake Team Race where the Crimson finished in 10th. After securing one win over Boston University in round one, Harvard gained two more victories in the second round over Northeastern and MIT for a 3-9 overall record.

The Crimson will take on the Owen-Mosbacher-Knapp Trophies, Presidents' Trophy and Oberg Trophy next weekend, April 14-15.
