CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In its opening weekend of competition to begin the spring season, the Harvard sailing team posted third-and fourth-place finishes. The Crimson traveled to Brown for the Sharpe Trophy Team Race, earning third place, while the women hosted the Harvard Women's Team Race, finishing in fourth.
At the Sharpe Trophy Team Race, the co-ed squad finished in third with a 7/3 record. In round one of racing, the Crimson registered a 4-3 mark, tallying wins over Connecticut College (1-2-6), Dartmouth (1-2-5), Tufts (1-2-3) and Rhode Island (1-3-6). On day two of competition, Harvard went undefeated, finishing the final day of racing with a 3-0 record. The Crimson secured victories over Brown (1-3-5), Coast Guard (1-2-4) and MIT (1-3-5).
The women's team hosted the Harvard Women's Team Race on the Charles River this Sunday, March 4, welcoming Brown, MIT and Tufts. The Crimson stumbled in the first two rounds, falling to all three competitors. In round three, Harvard tallied a 1-2-4 win over Tufts, bringing its overall record to 1-8 for the regatta.
Harvard will host the Wood Trophy Team Race Saturday, March 10-11, while also traveling to St. Mary's for the SMC Team Race and USNA for the Navy Women's regatta.
