Sertl, Farrell Earn Silver at Lightning World Championship

SALINAS, Ecuador – This past weekend, senior sailors Nick Sertl and Dylan Farrell placed second in the Lightning World Championship after a five-day event. The regatta, which took place Nov. 22-25, featured 56 boats of competitors from around the world.

Sertl and Farrell, who raced with George Washington's John Mastrandrea, represented the United States in the international regatta. The team scored consistently in the top group and finished the event with a mere 40 points. After nine rounds, the trio completed the event with five top-five placements, including one first-place mark.

Farrell, who serves as captain for the 2017-18 season at Harvard, has consistently placed within the top 10 at numerous regattas this fall season. Sertl has registered a first and second-place finish so far this season as well. The Crimson take a break from collegiate competition and return in the spring to finish its 2017-18 campaign.
