Harvard sailing earns its fourth first-place finish of the season (Athletic Communications).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard sailing team dominated the competition this weekend in its two regattas, earning a first-place finish at the Barnett Trophy and a third-place finish at the Moody Trophy.
Winning the trophy for the second consecutive year, the Crimson earned 160 points at the Barnett Trophy hosted by Bowdoin this weekend, Oct. 7-8. Harvard excelled to first-place after building a large lead on the first day of competition, finishing 44 points ahead of second-place Tufts. Henry Burnes, Catherine Tang and Emily Wang sailed in the A-Division, securing a first-place finish with 67 points, 25 points ahead of second-place Tufts. In the B-Division, Eli Burnes and Kevin Coakley posted a third-place finish with 93 points.
At the Moody Trophy hosted by URI, Harvard posted 90 points in its third-place overall finish. Nick Sertl, Christine Gosioco and Jessica Williams finished second in the A-Division with 37 points, just four points shy of first-place St. Mary's College of Maryland. Nicholas Karnovsky, Jessica Williams and Dylan Farrell saw action in the B-Division, earning 53 points in their fourth-place finish.
Next weekend, the Harvard women's sailing team hits the road to compete in the Yale Women's Interconference Regatta Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14-15. The coed team will race in the MIT Invitational and Captain Hurst Bowl hosted by Dartmouth.
