Harvard clinched the win four points ahead of Georgetown (Athletic Communications)
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Harvard coed sailing team won the Charleston Spring Coed Regatta, previously known as the Coed Interconference, clinching the victory by a four-point margin over Georgetown.
Sailing in the A-Division, Nick Sertl and Christine Gosioco started off the race strong, finishing in the top-five for the eight of the first nine marks. On Sunday, Sertl paired with Nomin-Erdene Jagdagdorj and Jessica Williams for the races, the pairs were challenged by the high winds, finishing in the middle of the pack for all eight races. The group finished the weekend with 80 points overall.
Nick Karnovsky and Julia Lord competed in the B-Division for the Crimson. On Saturday, the pair stayed within the top-5 for eight of nine races. Karnovsky paired with Kevin Coakley and Jessica Williams during the high winds on Sunday, finishing within the top-15 for four of nine races. The group finished the weekend with 95 points, assisting the Crimson to their win over 18 competitors.
The Wood Trophy Team Race and the Team Race Invitational were canceled due to inclement weather.
The coed team will compete at the Geiger Trophy Team Race at MIT March 18-19.
