Sailing Wins Barnett Trophy

Nick Karnovsky, Alejandra Resediz, Jackson Wagner and Lena Episalla earned their spot to the Hoyt Trophy later this month by winning the Barnett Trophy (Athletic Communications).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –The sailing team raced at the Nicholas Barnett Trophy (1st) and the Moody Trophy (10th) this weekend.

The Crimson won the Barnett Trophy with 217 points, 23 points ahead of second-place Boston University. Jackson Wagner and Lena Episalla sailed in the B-Division and posted the most top-five finishes of the regatta (17 of 36 races). Wagner and Episalla finished the regatta with the lowest score of 104 points and won the Barnett Trophy with support from Nick Karnovsky and Alejandra Resendiz in the A-Division. With this victory, Harvard has secured their place at the Hoyt Trophy, which will take place later this month.

At the Moody Trophy, the Crimson posted a 10th place finish overall. Nick Sertl and Christine Gosioco tested their skills with the light winds on Saturday. The duo sailed in the A-Division, earning 40 points and two top-10 placements. Nick Digiovanni and Priscilla Russo saw action in the B-Division to finish 12th with 68 points.
 
Harvard has a busy schedule for the weekend of Oct. 15-16: the New England Match Racing Championships (Salve Regina), the Truxt Umsted Trophy (Navy), Yale Women's Regatta (Yale), Captain Hurst Bowl (Dartmouth), Norm Reid Trophy Team Race (Boston College), Firefly/FJ Invitational (MIT) and the Lane Trophy Team Race (Boston College).
