Harvard sailors raced to a sixth-place mark after three windy days on the water (Athletic Communications).
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Nick Sertl, Jacob Bradt, Taylor Ladd and Nick DiGiovanni sailed to a sixth-place mark out of the 10 teams at the ICSA Match Race Championship in Charleston, South Carolina this weekend.
Senior Bradt, sophomores Ladd and Sertl, and freshman DiGiovanni secured four wins out of the nine round-robin races during day one of competition. Their wins were over University of Michigan, Oregon State, University of California Santa Barbara and College of Charleston. At the end of the day, the quartet sat seventh.
Day two of sailing began with a repechage in which Harvard, University of California Santa Barbara, Oregon State and Michigan State competed in a round robin. The Crimson posted victories over Oregon State and Michigan, dropping it to eighth place.
In the quarterfinal match-ups, Harvard faced No. 1 seed Georgetown which swept the Crimson in two matches keeping it in sixth place.
Harvard last competed in the Match Race Championship in 2005 in Gull Lake, Michigan where it posted a 10th-place finish.
