CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Nick Sertl, Jacob Bradt and Taylor Ladd have been named NEISA Sailors of the Week as a result of winning the 2015 New England Match Race Championship hosted by Salve Regina.
The trio sailed on Saturday, Oct. 17 with a strong wind throughout the day. They raced against eight other teams in Yngling dinghies to a fourth-place mark after the first day of competition. On Sunday, the Crimson sailed with ease as they beat Rhode Island in the quarterfinals, Yale in the semifinals and Dartmouth in the final race.
The victory marks the first time since 2001 that the Crimson has won the regatta. With the win, sophomore Ladd, classmate Sertl and senior Bradt will compete in the ICSA Match Race National Championship in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, hosted by the College of Charleston. They will sail from Nov. 20-22 against nine other teams, including Dartmouth which placed second. Harvard's appearance will be the first since 2005 when the Crimson recorded a 10th-place finish in Gull Lake, Michigan.
