Coed and Women’s Sailing Combines for Two Top-Six Results

Harvard's women's team finishes fifth at Central Series Six (Athletic Communications).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard sailing placed in the top-six in two of its three weekend regattas, as the women's team took fifth at Central Series Six and the coed team came in sixth at the Oberg Trophy.

Racing Z420s in a field of 18, the women's team posted top-five finishes in both divisions. Skipper Taylor Ladd and crew Kristina Jakobson were fifth in the A-division, where the tandem won one race and placed inside the top-ten every time. Sophie Bermudez skippered the B-boat with Ashleigh Inglis as crew, and the duo posted a fifth-place result in the division. Showing remarkable consistency, Bermudez and Inglis finished in the top-six eight times.

Harvard's coed team ended the Oberg Trophy in sixth-place after each of the three boats finished in the top-eight of their respective divisions. In the A-division, Matthew Mollerus and Olivia Kjorlien sailed to eighth, winning two races along the way. Nick Sertl and Julia Lord posted the best finish of the regatta for the Crimson, coming in fourth in the B-division. The duo worked to a top-five finish nine times. Bennett Capozzi and Nomin-Erdene Jagdagdorj raced in the C-division and finished in eighth-place. The pair won two races and wound up in the top-five seven times.

The Crimson's coed squad also competed at the Hoyt Trophy, where it finished 14th. In the A-division, Brian Drumm, Marek Zeleski and Jacob Bradt combined for 11th-place after finishing in the top-three twice. Andrew Mollerus was the skipper in the B-division, sailing with Sydney Karnovsky and Kevin Coakley, and took 11th after ending in the top-ten five times.

Harvard continues its fall season with three regattas November 1-2 at the Schnell, Victorian Urn and Nickerson Trophies.
