Coed Sailing Records Three Top-Four Weekend Finishes

Perdomo and Frankel finished first at Central Series Four to help the Crimson to second-place (Athletic Communications).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Coed sailing posted a second-place finish at Central Series Four and fourth-place finishes at the Smith Trophy and Olympians Regatta in Harvard's busiest weekend of the year. Freshman Taylor Ladd finished 12th at the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championships, while the Crimson's coed squad also logged eighth-place finishes at the Danmark Trophy and Harvard Invitational.

Juan Carlos Perdomo and Rebecca Frankel led the Crimson to a runner-up finish at the fourth Central Series with a win in the A-division. The duo sailed to a regatta-low 29 points, finishing in the top-three in six of the eight races while winning two. The B-division pair of Bennett Capozzi and Olivia Kjorlien placed eighth with 60 points.

Skipper Nick Sertl and crew Nomin-Erdene Jagdagdorj raced to a second place A-division result at the Smith Trophy, helping the Crimson to a fourth-place overall finish. The duo won three races, and placed among the top-five in 11 of the 17 contests. Dylan Farrell and Olivia Herrington took fifth-place honors in the B-Division, and recorded one victory at the event.

In Harvard's first regatta racing three-man Yngling boats the Crimson sailed to a fourth-place finish. Skipper Gram Slattery and crews Ian Batts and Richard Bergsund won two races in the two-day event and finished in the top-five eleven times.

Racing at the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championships, freshman Taylor Ladd sailed to a 12th-place result. Ladd started the event with top-ten finishes in the first four races, and was tied for sixth entering the fifth race of the first day. Ladd finished in the middle of the pack for much of the action during the second day to come in at 12th overall.

The coed team sailed to an eighth-place finish at the Danmark Trophy, where 20 teams took to the water. Skipper Brian Drumm and crew Jacob Bradt finished 10th in the A-division, and was victorious for one race. The duo ended strong at the regatta, finishing with five top-fives in the final eight races. Marek Zeleski and Emma Wheeler raced to a ninth-place finish in the B-division.

Hosting its second invitational of the fall, the Crimson coeds capped the weekend by taking eighth at the Harvard Invitational. Adam Brodheim and Cara Kennedy Cuomo turned in a seventh-place result in the A-division, while Daniel Leichus and Kirstin Anderson took eighth in the B-division.
