SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 9 Harvard men's water polo team defeated California Baptist 15-12 to open up play at the Julian Frasier Memorial Tournament hosted by Santa Clara. The Crimson is now 19-0 on the season and remains the only undefeated team in the CWPA.
Junior Dennis Blyashov led all scorers with five goals in the match and sophomore Michael Sonsini recorded a career-high three tallies. Leading the Crimson in helpers was junior Jackson Enright who tied a career high with three assists. First-year goalie Nathan Wu had 14 saves for Harvard.
Cal Baptist and Harvard got out to early starts, both scoring goals within the first minute of play. After the first quarter, the Crimson trailed the Lancers, 3-4, before scoring three-straight goals in the second to take a 6-5 lead. Cal Baptist would come back to tie it up twice more but two-straight goals by Harvard in the third gave the team its first two-goal lead. Cal Baptist would trail for the rest of the match, eventually falling 15-12.

The Crimson will continue play at the Julian Frasier Memorial tomorrow, Oct. 26, against Santa Clara at 1:20 p.m. and No. 13 San Jose St. at 6:40 p.m.
