LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 12 Harvard men's water polo team remains undefeated after handing loses to Mercyhurst and Salem on day two of the Bucknell Invite. The Crimson defeated both teams handedly, downing Mercyhurst 18-5 and Salem (WV) 23-4.
Harvard held the Lakers scoreless for the first quarter of play and only allowed one goal through the first half. Sophomore Noah Hodge and junior Oliver Oz combined for a total of seven saves in the match, with Hodge playing the first half before Oz took over in the second. Eleven different players scored for the Crimson, including senior captain Charlie Owens and first-year Kaleb Archer who both recorded hat-tricks. First-year Colin Le had a career high two goals and three steals. Junior Dennis Blyashov also tied a career high with five assists.
The Crimson continued its dominant play in the pool against Salem (WV), allowing only one goal in each quarter of play. Oz tallied a career-high five saves to backstop the Harvard defense. Senior Bennie Seybold paced the Crimson with four goals followed by Owens who scored his third hat-trick of the weekend. Sophomore Alex Tsotadze had the first three assists of the game and junior Ben Wagner had the next three helpers.
