CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Two Harvard men's water polo members earned Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-America recognition. Junior Austin Sechrest and sophomore Dennis Blyashov were named All-America honorable mention for the 2018 season.
Blyashov led the Crimson in goals, finding the back of the net on 81 occasions and adding a team-high 37 assists, 13 steals and nine blocks. Sechrest scored 66 times for the Crimson while tallying 16 assists, 20 steals and 11 forced blocks.
This marks the second time the pair have received All-America honors, as Blyashov was named to the third-team and Sechrest honorable mention in 2017. The dynamic duo, led Harvard to its third consecutive NWPC championship match to capture second place at tournament.
Throughout the year, Blyashov and Sechrest were named First-Team All-NWPC and First-Team All-Tournament members. Additionally, Sechrest claimed the first NWPC Player of the Week award on Sept. 10 before Blyashov earned the title on Sept. 17. The sophomore closed out the semester tallying Fall Academic All-Ivy League honors.
Harvard finished the 2018 season 22-8 overall and went 10-2 in conference, while tallying its fifth consecutive season with 20 or more wins. The Crimson concluded its season at the NWPC Championship game.
