PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The No. 13 Harvard men's water polo team topped Brown, 12-11, to lock in the top seed at the upcoming NWPC Championship Tournament. Harvard improves to 20-7 overall and 8-1 in conference play.
The first quarter of action saw strong defense from both sides, each team allowing a single goal. Harvard's Bruno Snow sparked the Crimson offense in the second period, converting a six-on-five before Dennis Blyashov, Alex Tsotadze and Charlie Owens came together to pull ahead of the Bears, 6-5, at the end of the half.
The Bears strung four scores together from Aidan Reilly and Armen Deirmenjian, which initiated a combined response from Blyashov and Nick Bunn leading into the final eight minutes of play. Austin Sechrest fired a solo shot to tie the score before Blyashov netted the game-winning goal.
- Sophomore Dennis Blyashov led the pack, recording four goals and two assists.
- First-year Noah Hodge tallied 13 saves and added a steal.
- The Crimson has earned sole possession of the No. 1 spot in the Northeast Water Polo Conference.
The Crimson travels up the river to face local foe MIT for the final regular season contest, tomorrow, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m.
