CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The No. 10 Harvard men's water polo team concluded the 2018 Harvard Invite with a 13-12 victory over No. 20 Wagner. The Crimson moves to 15-5 on the season.
Wagner opened the match winning the sprint before forcing a penalty that allowed Harvard's Dennis Blyashov to notch the first goal of the game. Blyashov added two more goals himself before connecting with Charlie Owens for another tally in the Crimson's favor. Before moving onto the second half, Austin Sechrest also found the back of the net on a penalty shot. With four seconds remaining in the second period, Wagner's Aaron Leighton made a quick shot to put the Seahawks ahead heading into halftime.
The third frame saw a strong offensive showing from both sides, including goals from Owens, Sechrest, Nathan Ondracek and Bruno Snow. With eight minutes on the clock in regulation and the score tied at 10, first-year Alex Tsotadze recorded two goals to give the Crimson a slight lead, 12-11. Wagner's Jasmin Kolasinac powered through Harvard's defense to knot up the score at 12 but with 35 seconds on the clock, Nick Bunn fired a solo shot to deliver the win.

The Crimson will return to the west coast for the second time this season to compete at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament, hosted by Santa Clara and San Jose State. Harvard is set to open tournament play against Santa Clara on Oct. 19 at 5:20 p.m. EST.
