CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Ben Zepfel has been named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division Rookie of the Week for Oct. 15.
In Harvard's only game last week, Zepfel contributed four goals and a steal in a loss to No. 12 Brown at Blodgett Pool. The California native's first goal of the game was his 50th of the season and drew the Crimson within two of the Bears in the showdown for first place. He would add three more goals after that, but it wasn't enough for Harvard to overcome a slow start and a slew of injuries.
On the season, Zepfel has been honored twice as Rookie of the Week, winning the award Sept. 17, as well. The freshman leads the Crimson with 53 goals and ranks third on the team with 22 steals.
The squad will wrap up its regular season with games against St. Francis (N.Y.) and Mercyhurst Saturday in New York City.
