CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's water polo's Evan Ramsey has been named the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Rookie of the Week and was also named to the CWPA Player of the Week Honor Roll. The freshman was honored after an impressive all-around performance during a 16-7 win over Connecticut College Oct. 15 and a dramatic game-winning goal against Mercyhurst Oct. 16.

Ramsey contributed to half of the Crimson scoring output against Connecticut College with a season-high five goals and three assists. He also added two steals on the defensive end in the win over the Camels.

With less than 30 seconds remaining against Mercyhurst, Ramsey caught a lob pass in the middle of the Crimson offensive set and fired past a diving Mercyhurst goalie into the top left corner of the goal to give Harvard a 10-9 victory. The goal was the Irvine, Calif., native's 12th of the season.

Ramsey was also honored as the Harvard COOP Athlete of the Week Oct. 17 for his performances. Click here for the complete list of 2011-12 Harvard COOP Athletes of the Week.
