CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior setter Matthew Ctvrtlik has been named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today, Feb. 10.
Ctvrtlik played in all seven sets this past weekend in the Crimson's 3-1 victory over Barton on Feb. 7 and its 3-0 victory over Mount Olive on Feb. 8. The Newport Beach, Calif. native recorded 78 assists, seven service aces, 13 digs, one block assist and had no receiving errors over the course of the two matches and helped Harvard earn a combined .395 team hitting percentage. Against Barton, Ctvrtlik set a new career high with six aces.
The captain currently leads the EIVA in assists per set with 10.55 and service aces per set with 0.52. Those totals have also earned him a tie for second place in the NCAA for aces in a four-set match and fourth place in the NCAA for assists per set.
The Crimson will travel to George Mason for back-to-back EIVA contests this weekend, Feb. 14 and 15. Saturday's match is set to start a 7 p.m., while action on Sunday will being at 3 p.m.
