Men’s Volleyball Falls Short Against No. 8 Pepperdine

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Harvard men's volleyball team (2-2) dropped its neutral site match against No. 8 Pepperdine (3-0) on Wednesday, Jan. 15 in four sets. The Crimson came back from a 25-18 loss in the first set to defeat the Waves in set two 25-20. However, Pepperdine would remain dominant in the next two sets winning by scores of 25-22 and 25-19.

Sophomore Campbell Schoenfeld extended his double-digit kill streak to 14 games after posting 15 kills. First-year Ethan McCrary led the Crimson with a .786 hitting percentage, totaling 11 kills on 14 attacks while senior captain Matthew Ctvrtlik had 37 assists on the night.

At the service line, Ctvrtlik, sophomore Eric Li and first-year Ethan Smith all recorded one ace.

Defensively, Harvard was led by senior captain Chase Howard who had 12 digs in the match. Smith and junior Griffin Schmit both had two block assists while Schoenfeld recorded one solo block.

Harvard Highlights 

  • For the third time this season, four members of the Crimson posted an above .300 hitting percentage.
  • Ctvrtlik recorded more than 30 assists for the second time this season.
