CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's volleyball is back after a two-week hiatus, hitting the road to match up against Penn State and Saint Francis (PA) on Friday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m.
What to Know
- Sophomore Griffin Schmit is coming off a pair of matches where he totaled 38 kills on 72 total attacks. He set a career-high with 20 kills against No. 11 Ball State. Schmit leads the Crimson with 2.86 kills per set.
- Junior setter Matthew Ctvrtlik also set a career-high against No. 11 Ball State, totaling 46 assists during the five-set match. Between his previous two matches, he posted 88 assists, 15 digs and two solo blocks en route to being named EIVA Defensive Player of the Week. He sits fifth in the EIVA averaging 8.0 assists per set.
- First-year Ryan Hong is averaging 0.63 blocks per set but has six solo blocks and is averaging 0.85 solo blocks per match. He sits tied for second in the EIVA in solo blocks.
- Harvard is tied for third in the EIVA with a 1-0 record.
At the Helm
Head coach Brian Baise enters his 11th season at the helm of the Harvard men's volleyball program this weekend. Baise owns a 124-109 record on the sidelines, including a 100-72 record over the past seven seasons. Last year, he led the Crimson to its first-ever EIVA Tournament championship and NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament appearance.
Harvard is back at home for a pair of matches on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. against Princeton and Saturday, Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. against NJIT. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
