CHARLESTON, W.V.- The Harvard men's volleyball team downed Charleston in three sets on Friday night at the Wehrle Arena. The win came with set scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-16.
The Crimson were off to a strong start after an 8-2 run in the first set; however, the Golden Eagles fought back, going point-for-point until a block from Ctvrtlik gave the Crimson an 18-15 advantage. A kill from Moore gave the Crimson the set point, 25-20.
The second set started off with a 15-9 run from the Crimson, with White registering five kill and two service aces in the stretch. Harvard also saw strong offensive efforts from Moore, Ctvrtlik, and Trevor Dow during the second stanza. White capped off the set with a kill from Ctvrtlik.
The Crimson bolted out to an 11-4 lead in the third set. Charleston battled back to come within five points 15-10, but the Crimson would not let them adhere any closer. Spencer Scott contributed two blocks in the stanza, assisting the Crimson to win the game. Harvard won the third set, 25-16, and limited the Golden Eagles to a .084 hitting percentage.
Harvard returns to action on Saturday April 1 at 3 p.m. to face Charleston before returning home. The game will be broadcast live on the UC Game Central.
