White earns first Player of the Week award of his career (Gil Talbot).
BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore Casey White and senior Caleb Zimmick of the Harvard men's volleyball team were named the EIVA Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday.
White earns EIVA Player of the Week honors after setting a pair of career highs in Harvard's 3-0 win over No. 14 Ball State. The Hermosa Beach, California, native recorded a .632 hitting percentage and tallied four blocks in the match to go with 12 kills and nine digs. Against IPFW the subsequent day, White notched 10 kills, eight digs and two blocks. White has had a terrific start to the 2015 season, ranking fifth nationally in digs per set (2.92) and eighth in hitting percentage (.417).
Zimmick was named the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week after recording two consecutive matches with five blocks. The Middleton, Wisconsin, native also hit an efficient .545 against Ball State and IPFW, recording 14 kills in the process. The award is the first of the year for Zimmick, who was an honorable mention All-America and All-EIVA first team selection a year ago.
Harvard, which moved into the AVCA Division I-II Poll at No. 15, continues its non-league slate Friday, Jan. 30 when it hosts Emmanuel College at the Malkin Athletic Center. The match will be broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network, and is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
