No. 28 Men’s Tennis Battles Brown to 4-3 Win

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 28 Harvard men's tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches today, April 6, after defeating Ivy League opponent Brown, 4-3. With the win, the Crimson improves to 18-3 this season and 2-0 in conference play.

Harvard secured the first point of the match with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Jean Thirouin and Robert Wrzesinski earned their fourth consecutive doubles win after defeating the Bear's No. 3 spot, 6-3. Kenny Tao and Logan Weber then sealed the point for the Crimson with another 6-3 victory when the No. 1 duo bested Haworth and Walker.

The Bears evened the match with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph on court four to start singles play. Harvard took the lead right back when senior co-captain Kenny Tao fought off a second set comeback and defeated Haworth in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 on court one. Brown then tied the match for the second time at 2-2 with a 6-4, 7-6 (3) win in the No. 3 spot.

The Crimson then claimed a 3-2 lead when Andy Zhou topped Brown's No. 2 spot in a three-set battle, 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Robert Wrzesinki provided the match-clinching point for the Crimson with a straight-sets 6-2, 6-3 win in on court five.

Up Next
The Crimson returns to Cambridge to host Yale on Sunday, April 8 at 2 p.m. The match will be broadcast on the Ivy League Network.
