Men's Tennis Takes Ivy Opener, 4-1, at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. – The Harvard men's tennis team (13-8, 1-0 Ivy League) opened conference play with a 4-1 win over Dartmouth (7-11, 0-1 Ivy League) extending its dual match winning streak to four games. Harvard won the doubles point for the ninth time in the last 10 matches, then clinched the victory with wins at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 6 singles coming from Kenny Tao, Brian Yeung, and Christopher Morrow, respectively.

"It was a fine performance from the team today," said associate head coach Andrew Rueb. "Each player was very clear about their game style and shot patterns and they executed at a high level. I'm proud of how they competed and it is fun to watch our players grow in confidence."

Harvard's No. 2 and No 3 doubles teams helped the Crimson get off to a quick start in the match, as co-captains Sebastian Beltrame and Jean Thirouin won 6-4, and Morrow and Logan Weber won their eighth straight match (6-2) to clinch the doubles point.

"In doubles, the boys started firing on all cylinders right from the first game and we jumped on them early," Rueb said. "They kept the pedal to the medal to win the doubles point decisively."

In singles play, Tao won decisively in the No. 2 spot, winning 6-2, 6-2 over Dartmouth's Ciro Riccardi. Yeung earned a singles win at No. 3, 6-3, 6-3, over Max Flienger and Morrow clinched the match with a straight sets win at No. 6, 6-1, 6-4, against Eddie Grabill.

Harvard returns home this Friday to take on Brown in a dual match set to begin at 2 p.m..
