Sebastian Beltrame advanced to the quarterfinals of the main singles draw at the ITA Northeast Regional.

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. –
The Harvard men's tennis team completed competition at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships today, held at the Hecht Tennis Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Senior co-captain Sebastian Beltrame had the best individual showing for the Crimson.

Beltrame advanced to the quarterfinals of the main singles draw, defeating Jan Cimrman (NJIT) on Friday (6-2, 6-3), Dusan Vukisevic (St. John's) on Saturday (6-1, 7-5) and Lev Kazakov (Cornell) on Sunday (3-6, 6-4, 6-4). In his quarterfinal match against No. 1 seed Shawn Hadavi this morning, Beltrame fell, 6-2, 6-3.

Junior co-captain Jean Thirouin and senior Brian Yeung advanced to the round of 16 in singles action, as Harvard competitors in the tournament finished with a combined singles record of 9-5.

In doubles action, Yeung and sophomore Michael Peters had the best showing for the Crimson, advancing to quarterfinals with wins over Cornell pair Kazakov/Rimondini (8-4), and Buffalo doubles team Nittolo/Kaoy (8-4).

"I'm proud of the team's growth this fall," said associate head coach Andrew Rueb. "This weekend was a big step forward along that path. We've put in a lot of hard work both on and off the court and to see each player find another gear at some point over the weekend was very exciting. Now we have to get back to work so we can build on those performances and make them more routine."
