Men’s Tennis Sweeps William & Mary, Boston College to Open Spring Slate

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's tennis went 2-0 to start its spring campaign, defeating William & Mary, 4-3, and Boston College, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the Murr Tennis Center.

Against W&M, the Crimson found wins from the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 position after earning the doubles point to solidify the win. Junior Sebastian Beltrame upended Ryan Newman in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Kenny Tao dispensed Addison Appleby (6-3, 7-5) from the third spot. In his collegiate debut, rookie Andy Zhou claimed a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Alec Miller.

Harvard skated past BC, earning the doubles point and the first five singles tallies. Zhou notched his second win of the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Hank Workman. Kelvin Lam defeated Aidan McNulty (6-3, 7-6 (3)). Sophomores Grant Solomon and Jean Thirouin took care of Kyle Childree and Kent Mukai, respectively to help the Crimson to 2-0.

The Crimson will be in Fort Worth, Texas next weekend for the ITA Kick-Off against Oklahoma State and either TCU or San Diego State University.
