Men’s Tennis Welcomes Three Freshmen to 2014-15 Roster

Trio of rookies will look to help the Crimson to its fourth-straight NCAA tournament appearance.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Dave Fish, The Scott Mead '77 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Tennis, announced the addition of three freshmen to the men's tennis roster for the 2014-15 season. The three freshmen hail from California and Texas.

The Crimson is coming off an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, as Denis Nguyen became Harvard's first All-American since 2005 with a semifinals appearance in the men's singles draw.

USTA National Open Singles and Doubles champion … National USTA Regional Segment champion … "Blue-Chip" top-10 recruit, ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation … Ranked No. 1 in Texas by … USTA top-15 nationally in the 18 and under division … Three-time USTA Clay Court National Championship quarterfinalist … Took fifth at the USTA Winter National Championships … Member of the 2012 United States Team Championships National Champion team (Texas) … Featured in Sports Illustrated "Faces in the Crowd" piece on May 19, 2014 for an undefeated high school career without having dropped a single set in singles or doubles, winning the state championship ... Only player in Greenhill School history to not drop a single set at Line 1 singles or doubles throughout career … Two-time All-American … Greenhill School Richard Hall Athlete of the Year (2012, 2013) … Named team MVP four times … Four-time All-SPC Conference Player … Team won three SPC Championships during his tenure.

Played in the No. 1 position for all four years, lettering at Lynbrook High School (2010-11), Phillips Exeter Academy (2011-13) and Cupertino High School (2013-14) … Four-time team MVP … Won back-to-back New England Prep School Invitational tournaments … Led Exeter to a second-place finish at the New England Class 4 Championship … Undefeated in league play at Exeter … Placed second at the national selection tournament in 2014 and qualified for the Bakersfield Futures (2014).
