COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Harvard men's tennis team had a strong showing against a competitive field at the Texas A&M Challenge this weekend.  The Crimson faced Illinois and the host Texas A&M in the tri-school conference challenge.

The Crimson tandem of junior Denis Nguyen and senior Casey MacMaster highlighted the Crimson's performance in doubles action. The duo kicked off the tournament with an upset over the 12th-ranked pair Shane Vinsant and Harrison Adams of Texas A&M. Ranked tied for 20th in the ITA's preseason doubles poll, Nguyen and MacMaster registered an 8-6 victory in the tiebreaker to secure an 8-7 win.

The Harvard pair absorbed its only loss of the weekend in its next match, as it fell to the third-ranked tandem of Junior Ore and Jackson Withrow from Texas A&M, 8-5, but Nguyen and MacMaster rebounded when they defeated Illinois' 10th-ranked tandem of Ross Guignon and Tim Kopinski, 8-7, for their second upset of the weekend.

Alex Steinroeder and Kelvin Lam defeated Texas A&M's Behzad Miniavi and Tito Moreiras, 8-6, to open up competition before falling to the Aggie's Jeremy Efferding and Jordan Szabo, 8-1.

Sebastian Beltrame and Andrew Ball recorded the Crimson's lone victory in the second round when they downed Illinois' Brian Page and Julian Childers, 8-5. The duo picked up another win over Minavi and Moreiras of Texas A&M, 8-3.

Freshman Brian Yeung and sophomore Nicky Hu rounded out the Crimson's doubles victories when they captured a win over 12th-ranked Vinsant and Adams of Texas A&M.
