Harvard Men’s Tennis Improves to 5-1 After Defeating Butler, 7-0

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-The Harvard men's tennis team didn't wait long to get back in the win column after a tough 5-2 defeat at the hands of No. 27 Indiana yesterday, as they dominated Butler 7-0 in Indianapolis, Ind., Sunday morning. Harvard won every match it competed in going 3-0 in doubles play and 6-0 in singles action.

The Crimson opened the day sweeping the Bulldogs in doubles play as the team of Andy and Denis Nguyen defeated Butler's top pairing of Austin Woldmoe and Billy Weldon 8-5. In the No. 2 position Alistair Felton and Alex Steinroeder defeated Zach Ervin and Sam O'Neil 8-3 while Christo Schultz and Henry Steer dispatched Stephen McLoughlin and Tommy Marx 8-5. With the sweep, Harvard earned the doubles point and went into singles action up 1-0.

The Crimson continued its momentum into its singles matches as all six Harvard competitors earned victories. In the No. 1 spot Jonathan Pearlman defeated Woldmoe 6-4, 6-3. Steer defeated Marx 6-1, 6-1 from the No. 2 slot while Steinroeder took down Ervin 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 3 position. Schultz, Chaudhuri and Nguyen all registered victories in the four through six positions, respectively.

Harvard will return home next weekend to play in two dual matches against Virginia Tech and Boston University. The two matches are slated for Saturday at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Full match results can be found below:
