Sophomore Christo Schultz recorded a doubles and singles win to contribute to Harvard's 4-0 victory over Denver.
CAMBRDIGE, Mass. – Harvard men's tennis earned its first dual match victory of the season, defeating Denver 4-0 at the Murr Tennis Courts in Cambridge Mass., on Friday. Harvard went 2-0 in doubles play earning the point, while going 3-0 in singles action to improve to 1-0 on the season.
The 45 ranked team in the nation according to the ITA, Alistair Felton and Casey MacMaster defeated Jens Vorkefeld and Othar Kordschia bya score of 8-4. The team of Jon Pearlman and Christo Shultz followed suit by defeating their opponents Yannick Weihs and Alex Clickenbeard 9-8 (4). With the third doubles match not finishing, Harvard earned the doubles point, leading the Pioneers 1-0.
In singles action Alex Steinroeder defeated Fabio Biasion 7-5, 6-3, while Shultz beat Kordaschia 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Shuan Chadhuri supplied Harvard with its third singles victory beating Clinkenbeard 6-2, 6-4. The rest of the singles matches did not conclude as Harvard wrapped up the victory 4-0.
Harvard also began its match with Drake and earned the doubles point as the teams of MacMaster and Felton, Schutlz and Henry Steer and Denis Nguyen and Steinroeder all defeated it's doubles opponents.
Harvard will resume its match with the Bulldogs tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Murr Center tennis courts.
