Men’s Tennis Perfect Through Day One of Harvard Halloween Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Participants of the Harvard men's tennis team tallied nine victories in the opening round of the Halloween Invitational on Friday, hosted at the Murr Center. Crimson competitors went a perfect 7-0 in the A flight and 2-0 in the B flight for a sterling beginning to the weekend.
Senior captain Alistair Felton got the Crimson started with a two-set victory over Army's Donald Van Veltzer, 6-3, 6-3. Davis Mangham, Denis Nguyen, Shaun Chadhuri, Alex Steinroeder and Henry Steer all advanced during the 2:30 matches, and Josh Tchan upset the A flight No. 1 seed, Brown's Mike Hill.
In the singles B flight, Brandon Parker and John Thornton advanced with wins over Michael Jacobs of Dartmouth and Amherst's Sean Rodriguez.
The tournament will resume with singles matches beginning at 10 a.m. The doubles flight is slated to start at 9 a.m.
